ASH
AND STRIKES DON'T STOP THE ARRIVAL OF
NUMBER 7 AND 8
It's been a really
slow year so far and this seems to be
pretty general from talking to a lot of
the rescue homes, but we plod on and
today despite all the hassles in the sky
and at the airports, managed to bring
Shammie and Jay Jay to the Islands to
start a new and happier life with Pam and
John and Lawrence.
Cloud, ash and
strikes did not deter Chris from getting
Mal up in the air and to Birmingham where
Pat was once again waiting with two dogs
and two bacon butties.
A lovely fawn 'gal'
to be known as Shammie and a beautiful
male black beauty to be called Jay Jay
greeted Mal and Chris as they landed
around mid-day on Thursday 20th May.
Little Shammie will be 4 at the end of
this month and Jay Jay will turn 5 in
June.

the Sanctuary

Jay Jay meets one
of the Sanctuary tortoises
and wonders if it is a Crusty Meat Pie!!!
At the end of a
long day for these guys they finally meet
their new families and go home to start
their new lives.

This makes 8
homings which is down on last year and we
have many reports of returns and people
giving up oldies which is devastating. It
seems the credit crunch has taken a year
to kick in but hey is a bag of food that
dear that you have to say goodbye to the
pet you have had for years. We are
grateful for the owners who have taken on
three oldies this year, namely Alison
with Zoe, Donna with Toggle and Trevor
with Sally-Ann they might be a bit wobbly
on their pins, but then so am I !!!!!
Once again we thank
Chris and Pat for making yet another
journey to give these two retired racers
the homes that they deserve.
