FOR
ONE DAY ONLY!

Scout and Xena
looking very pleased with their
achievement
That
applied to the Great British Greyhound
Walk and the weather. This is the second
year this event has taken place not only
in Jersey but all over the United
Kingdom. When I phoned our numbers to the
organisers in the U.K. the South of
England was basking in similar
temperatures to us but up in bonnie
Scotland it was torrential rain - no
happy medium.
This event
was arranged way back in March and the
permissions to hold this walk applied for
and granted way back then. Lists and more
lists of supporters are then made and
it's just fingers crossed for the day.

lurcher Maisie
Due to the
extreme conditions it was stipulated that
the walk be cut short and for owners to
keep a close eye on their dogs I think I
would consider cancelling if we had that
kind of heat next year problem was it
came out of the blue and as I said was
'for one day only'.

Few of the
walkers on their way back
Fortunately
there were showers at Bel Royal and at
West Park and many of the dogs had a
welcomed 'wet down' when they got back.

Job done
crashed out in the shade
So the
question you all want answered how many
pooches took part, well a record for us
105 dogs trod the boards 27 more than
last year amazing. the question is can we
improve on that - well lets see - roll on
the 3rd Great British Greyhound Walk in
2012.
Finally.........

Tom at
nearly 15 proves you are never too old.
Tom seen
here with mum Cas might only have done a
few strides but he's just a star.
So there we
have it one of our biggest events of the
year completed. Our sincere thanks to our
wonderful owners who never let us down,
to Sharnie from Barclays Wealth who
arranged dress down's etc., in her branch
and indeed to Barclays Wealth who once
again supported us.
See you
there in 2012!
