GREYHOUND
RESCUE JERSEY
AND
SIGHTHOUND
RESCUE JERSEY
Who would have thought
that a brief chat on the Railway Walk
some seven years ago would lead to a firm
friendship and dedication to the homing
of greyhounds and whippets, read
on............
We had stopped and talked
to Alison on our walks to the Railway
Walk, she had whippets and in those days
we had Orchid our German Shepherd, and
greyhounds O.Jay, Bosun, Squibby,
Huckleberry and Pongo-Pongo - gosh so few
in those days!!!!!
I never even knew
Alison's name until one morning she was
doing the same step class as me at
Quennevais Fitness Centre. She approached
me with regard to homing a greyhound and
the rest, as they say, is history.
Jake, Alison and John's
first of five greyhounds entered their
lives on the 12th October 2002 and our
friendship grew from that day. Our
passion for homing greyhounds created a
strong bond between us and very soon we
were working closely with each other to
raise awareness and home these sometimes
mis-understood dogs.
More recently, and due to
whippets playing such a large part in her
life since childhood, Alison decided to
look into officially rehoming whippets
locally as well as bringing whippets and
whippety lurchers back from the mainland
and Ireland where their fate can be
somewhat dubious to say the least, so we
are thrilled that her charity, SIGHTHOUND
RESCUE JERSEY is now up and running
and you can visit their website at www.jerseydogs.co.uk We hope to work
alongside each other in our fight to save
these dogs and educate people into the
cruelty that is so often associated with
these particular breeds.
So as Greyhound Rescue
approaches its thirteenth year -
Sighthound rescue celebates its first. We
know only too well that there are sad
times when we cry together but equally
there are the happy times when we can
laugh together and see one of our dogs
enjoying a completely new life surrounded
by a loving family, a far cry from some
of the cruelty they may have suffered in
their past.
FINALLY.......
GREYHOUND RESCUE AND SIGHTHOUND
RESCUE
are thrilled to announce
their first homing together.....

Peanut the greyhound had
to be rehomed due to his owners going
abroad - Freckles the whippet X had just
arrived from Ireland - Frank and his
family had recently lost their whippets -
fate had sealed this homing and now these
two guys share a sofa and life together.
