GUMP
JOINS THE SANCTUARY GANG AND FLETCHER
RETURNS TO JERSEY
Never a good sign
when the wind is blowing and the forecast
is rain but thankfully Vin decided to go
for it calling firstly at Cambridge then
up to Birmingham before returning with
Fletcher and Gump.
Last year Mal and I
decided that it was time to relieve
Malarky and Fonz of some of their many
duties and take on another younger dog.
Unfortunately it didn't happen but this
year the time was right.
Until Mal got home
I had no idea whatsoever what he looked
like all I knew was that he had brindle
and white in his colouring and his name
was Forest Leon plus today is his
birthday and he is 4. He doesn't know it
yet but this is his best birthday ever -
no more racing - no more kennels.

Introducing our new
boy Gump
We are hoping that
Gump will be an active member of the gang
and attend the fetes and awareness
assemblies and indeed donate some of that
wonderful greyhound blood!! oh on that
subject we are pleased to report that the
little spaniel who had a pint of 'Podge's
best' has gone home, and touch wood, is
doing really well.
Sadly Fletcher's
return was partly due to the economic
crisis and partly to the failure of his
owners to insure him. I think everyone
has to think very seriously when they
take on a pet that accidents occur and
vet bills these days are really
expensive. Fletcher's owners ignored a
small wound, that treated in early stages
would probably have only needed some anti
biotics, but because it was left caused
greater problems and a massive vets bill.
Finding it impossible to pay Fletcher's
account his owners have seen fit to
return him and also leave Alison not only
to bring him back to Jersey from the U.K.
but also settle the bill as it stands at
the moment.
At a later date
Alison and I will be adding an article to
both our sites which hopefully will
explain more fully the costs involved
when you take on a dog.

progress of Fletcher please logg on to

Having got both
dogs back to Jersey safe and sound we
really think Gump will be a hit with the
public and may make his debut at our next
fete on the 12th September - details of
which can be found on our home page. If
you miss meeting him there we will be
having our Open Day in October so maybe
you would like to be the first person to
sponsor him.

Donna brought
Whispa up to meet Gump and of course
Kentee our GSD was there to welcome her
new brother
Our thanks once
again to Pat Chan for bringing Gump down
to the airport, I get to meet Pat next
week when her family come over for a
holiday. To Vin for the speedy delivery
and to the weather for holding out till
everyone was back safe and sound.
