GREYHOUND
RESCUE JERSEY
SPONSORED WALK
2008
DEDICATED TO
OUR GUNNER
Last November
we heard of an elderly greyhound that had
spent all 11 years of his life in a shed
with just a bit of paddock to go out in.
Most of his days were spent on his own.
As many of you will know Malcolm, Alison
and I do try to take on an 'oldie' round
about Christmas, there has been Floosie,
Mr. Padz who so sadly spent only a short
period of time with us, then there is
Arrie and Eccles who are still with us
and in reasonably good health.

This is where Gunner
spent all his life until he came to live
with us in November 2007 aged 11
However Gunner arrived
in a dreadful state, total neglect
rendered him crippled with arthritis,
infected teeth which had to be removed, a
tumour in one of his testicles which
could not be operated on due to his
health, bad kidneys and terrified of
everything and everybody.
In the 9 months we
have had him we have seen a little of the
fear go from his eyes but his condition,
although made so much less painful by
medication, is now deteriorating and last
week we were informed that his kidneys
were rapidly failing. Whilst he is still
eating we will keep him comfortable and
have been assured by our vet that he is
in no pain due to this particular
condition but will just feel 'off
colour'. He has suffered so much in his
life that when we feel the time is right
we will let him join his pals at Rainbow
Bridge but we felt that it would be so
lovely just to dedicate this walk not
only to him but to all greyhounds out
there both young and old that have been
subjected to neglect or worse.

Our amazing old boy
Gunner now 12 years old
THE FUNDS THAT WE
RAISE FROM THIS WALK WILL BE FOR ALL THE
GUNNERS OF THIS WORLD.
