IS IT A
BIRD ...........IS IT A PLANE?
Close, it
was actually Wren and Wiz the greyhounds
flying in to the Channel Islands!
As Alderney
was 'open' today, we thought it was about
time we flew them in another greyhound
and this was to be a little brindle bitch
called Wren.
Wren is
about to start her new life with Dee who
sadly lost her elderly greyhound
recently. A couple of years ago we homed
a fawn bitch called Fern to Greta and we
know both ladies are friends so hopefully
Fern will show Wren the ropes.

Wren (now Kaylee)
reaches her new home in Alderney
Weather
conditions were perfect (for a change!)
and Mal had a lovely flight returning to
Jersey early afternoon. He was not alone
as also sharing the flight back was Wiz a
4 year old greyhound who had run his
heart and soul out only to be found by
Chiltern Dog Home suffering from horrific
abscesses, half starved in fact in a
disgusting condition. What makes it worse
is that a couple of months ago this dog
was still racing around a track earning
someone money.

Wiz's
wounds
Whether we
will ever get to the bottom of how he
ended up in such a neglected state who
knows, but we will sure as damn try and
find out who allowed this dog to end up
this way.

Unfortunately
this isn't the first, and I am sure will
not be the last, time Chiltern's have
been in touch with us. Not two years ago
a dog called Harlea also 4 year old was
found wandering the streets half starved,
yet another casualty from the world of
greyhound racing. A lot of you will know
Harlea who lives with Alison and is a
favourite with the kids at our school
assemblies and fetes. So when we heard
about Wiz we thought it was only fitting
that he went to share his life with
Harlea, with so much pain and suffering
in common we know they will be great
buddies and hopefully their past history
will remain in the past.

Harlea on the left
just reassuring Wiz that everything is
going to be fine now

It's been such a
long day
We will
keep you updated on Wiz's progress and
who know one day he will probably join
Harlea and the other guys at the many
functions we attend throughout the year.
