JERSEY 1
- GUERNSEY 1

Rocky and Rufus
It was touch and
go whether the freezing conditions would
prevent us from bringing back our two
first arrivals of the year, but
thankfully after a late departure due to
awful weather on the mainland, Dopey, as
he was called in the kennels, was
delivered to Mick, Lizzie and Natasha in
Guernsey who recently lost their
greyhound.

Dopey, a brindle
dog, now to be called Rufus, is a real
youngster of 16 months. He reckoned this
racing lark was a waste of time so
refused to do it - clever greyhound, no
racing career and cold kennels for him!!
Nigel who brought him down said he didn't
even know how to get in the car he had
never been anywhere or done anything. A
whole new world is awaiting you Rufus!!
We are very
grateful to Rufus's new sister Natasha
who saved up all her pocket money and
donated it to Greyhound Rescue to help
other dogs like Rufus find loving homes
like he has. Thanks Natasha, this is a
really kind thought.
Joining Rufus on
the flight back was Sheriff, another
young black dog who also reckoned racing
was a mugs game. He too decided that if
he acted up he wouldn't have to spend his
life cold and lonely only going out when
it was race night.

Thankfully
Sheriff, now to be known as Rocky, starts
his new life with Peter and Debbie who
lost their lurcher recently under awful
circumstances, he just collapsed on the
beach, he was only 6. Rocky is going to
have to brush up on his French as Peter
and Debbie spend quite a few months away
in France.
Ooh la la!!!!!!!
We thank Nigel
for transporting the dogs for us and
Chris for once again safely flying us to
and fro!
