AUTUMN OPEN DAY AT THE SANCTUARY

Sunday the 26th October saw our last major event of 2008 (unless you know different - always open to offers!!!).

The clocks changed and the weather was miserable but at the Sanctuary everything was sunny. Once again we had a steady flow of both old and new faces and as per usual the gang behaved impeccably, all 17 of them, oh make that 18 we were forgetting Kentee the hairy one (G.S.D.). It also great to see some doggy visitors, Billy, Xena, Meg, Cindy, Callie Tilly, Amy and Monty though they didn't come in as the gang would have thought it really was party time!

What was so great was the renewal of sponsorships and an additional 6 news sponsors. Below you can see Arrie and his sponsor family who he always looks forward to catching up with.

The new sponsors chosen were very busy today, writing their stories and sending them out to their new admirers.

Our Gunner who so many of you will know about is still with us and yesterday, despite his failing health, was chosen by two people as their sponsor dog, this touched us deeply and we would like to thank those concerned.

Many of our visitors did seem to love the older dogs and we have an article about senior canines coming up very soon, that may be of interest to those of you who would like to consider taking on an older dog.

We had our range of merchandise on display and available for purchase. Sales were the most successful they have ever been. Below you can see visitors perusing.

Our cotton bags were a hit. Children loved the fact they could meet one of the dogs and then choose a bag with a picture of the dog they had made friends with as you can see below - Fonz and Dilly were modelling!

The tombola was popular also and we were so impressed by Grace, seen in the photo below. She managed to win the 'Jack the greyhound' book and a mini ruck sack. Unfortunately brother Max wasn't so lucky but without a second thought Grace offered the ruck sack to her brother. Such a lovely gesture. Max was made up as you can imagine.

So to all our owners, sponsors and new visitors who came along and supported us at the weekend, we once again express our sincere thanks and hopefully we will see you all again at our next Open Day in the Spring.
