For those of you who are
unsure Pets as Therapy (PAT) is a national
charity founded in 1983. It is unique in that it
provides therapeutic visits to hospitals,
hospices, nursing and care homes, special needs
schools and a variety of other venues by
volunteers with their own friendly temperament
tested and vaccinated dogs and cats.
Please visit their website
to find out more about their great work

Over the years Greyhound
Rescue has had many of their greyhounds
registered as P.A.T. dogs. Unfortunately Pyder
Mann, Turk, Awesome and Malarky are no longer
with us and Rio has had to retire due to being
diagnosed with epilepsy a while ago.
So it is down to these guys
above to carry on the amazing work especially
done by Malarky who sadly left us this year
(2011). We have now changed nursing homes and are
no longer at Clifton where we were regular
visitors for 4 years, but now attend Silver
Springs.
On occasions, when one of
the PAT dog owners is away on holiday they also
get to go to Mont-a-Abbe school and have also
been to Lakeside Residential Home and Clinique
Pinel at St. Saviours Hospital.
Twice a year a day in town
is arranged in aid of the charity and it's great
to see all the different dogs mingling together
and indeed to inform people of what these dogs
do.

Over the years the public
have contributed so generously to Greyhound
Rescue, we felt this was just a small way that we
could put something back into the community.
