Things to
consider before homing a
dog!
When taking
on any animal there has
to be commitment and we
feel that a visit to our
sanctuary allows
prospective owners to
appreciate 'what's
involved'. They have the
opportunity to see these
dogs in their home
environment and witness
their behaviour. A good
temperament is the most
important consideration.
However, meeting our dogs
will give prospective
owners an idea of size
and colour if they have a
preference. Any questions
or issues can be raised
and discussed, such as:
Can
you commit to up to 15
years for the dog's
welfare and needs?
Can
you afford to keep a dog,
veterinary bills or
insurance?
Who
will spend time with the
dog and train it?
When
going on holiday, can you
take the dog or afford
kennel bills?
Are
you getting a dog for the
right reason?
Are
there other pets in the
house that will be
affected by the presence
of a dog?
Have
you the time to exercise,
groom and care for a dog?
Will
someone be at home with
your dog for at least
half of the day?
??????????
If we feel
that you would make a
suitable owner and you
would like to go ahead
with adoption we will set
the wheels in motion, a
process which will take
approximately 2 weeks.
ALTERNATIVELY:
If at this
moment in time your
circumstances are not
appropriate, you might
consider sponsoring a
dog. Visit our 'Sponsor a
dog' page to
find out more.
